Is there mail on Veterans Day? What’s closed on Monday
NEW YORK (PIX11) – Veterans Day is right around the corner and as a federal holiday, many services may not be operating as scheduled.
Here’s a list of some announced closures in honor of the holiday.
Services closed for Veteran’s Day
- United States Postal Service (USPS) - No mail delivery and post offices closed
- Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)
- City and State Courts
- Social Security offices
- All public schools
- All public library branches
- Federal banks - This includes TD Bank, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Capital One, Wells Fargo, and other large bank branches
Additionally, alternate side parking is suspended and there will be no trash collection. For those whose collection days are typically Mondays, city officials advise putting your trash on the curb on Monday evening.
Mass transit including the subway, LIRR, Metro-North, and the Staten Island Ferry will run on a normal weekday schedule. Buses in Manhattan may be detoured because of the Veterans Day Parade.
