Duke Handles Liberty On The Road, 83-67

Duke traveled to Liberty for Game #2 of the the young season and the Flames put some pressure on the Blue Devils before Duke pushed back, winning 83-67.
Duke pushed out to a big first quarter lead of 29-15 but Liberty ate into that in the second, outscoring the Devils 22-10 to make it 39-37 at the half.
But Duke punched back in the third, winning that frame 25-13. The fourth was essentially a wash at 19-17.
Ashlon Jackson led the way with 26. Taina Mair added 15 while Oluchi Okananwa tossed in 13. Promising freshman Toby Fournier had six points off the bench. Vanessa de Jesus, back from her knee injury, had six rebounds and three assists.
Duke forced 19 turnovers and got 31 points from those. Despite Liberty’s efforts, the Flames never led and never tied.
