ALC Hosts Annual Trunk-or-Treat
by Micah Turner, Student Writer
Each year, Alice Lloyd College’s student clubs, organizations, and athletic teams come together to host Trunk-or-Treat in Pippa Passes. This year, on Halloween night, hundreds of community members came together for an evening full of candy, games, laughs, and fun.
Campus organizations and athletic teams each had displays set up along Purpose Road with treat bags full of goodies for all to enjoy. Lady Eagles basketball coach John Mills stated, “The Trunk-Or-Treat night jumpstarts our community service projects. It’s one our players really look forward to and allows them to become little kids again themselves. They dress up in costumes and love having pictures taken with the kids who just gravitate toward them. It’s a night that really connects not just the campus but the community as a whole.”
Mackenzie Slone, Vice President of SGA, also commented, “I’m so grateful Alice Lloyd College gives the student body so many opportunities to give back to the community. As a Knott County native, it makes my heart happy to be a part of SGA, an organization that is dedicated to that cause. Trunk Or Treat is so special and was a really great time.” Student Services Coordinator Kim Cornett organized the event. “Trunk-or-Treat was a wonderful opportunity for the College and community to come together and share laughter, joy, and a little bit of spookiness!”
ALC is grateful to the campus community and all of our guests for making 2024’s annual trunk-or-treat event a massive success. The ALC community enjoyed the night as much as the visiting children did, and we can’t wait for trunk-or-treat next year along the banks of Caney Creek! Thank you to everyone who participated this year. We hope your sweet tooth was as satisfied as ours!
