European Chess Union Partners with GLOBALCELL to Enhance Connectivity for Chess Players Across Europe
European Chess Union (ECU) is delighted to announce an exciting partnership with the leader
of eSIM solutions – GLOBALCELL for the benefit of all ECU members and the chess community.
GLOBALCELL has become the Official Telecom Provider of the ECU and will provide eSIM
data packages specifically for the benefit of ECU players, federations and officials, all across
Europe.
The sponsorship covers the provision of 550 eSIMS each loaded with a 10 GB data package,
which renews on a monthly basis over the next 14 months, that is useable in all territories of
the ECU member federations. This partnership represents a commitment from both
GLOBALCELL and ECU to improve the experience of ECU members, ensuring seamless, reliable
connectivity at major tournaments and events.
As part of this agreement, these data-only eSIMs will enhance the level of mobility given to
players and officials by allowing them to stay connected even without the use of traditional
SIM cards or incurring high roaming charges. This will also facilitate communications
throughout the course of the tournaments and ensure that both players and officials remain
connected in whichever part of the world their games may take them.
Expressing his enthusiasm, ECU president Zurab Azmaiparashvili stated: “It is great news for the
ECU to team up with GLOBALCELL thanks to its great eSIM innovation that has the needs of modern
chess players in mind. This partnership will enable members and federations of the ECU to
concentrate on what they do best – playing and promoting chess—while staying effortlessly
connected.”
A Step Forward in Connectivity for Chess
This partnership marks a new chapter in the ECU’s ongoing efforts to support chess players and
officials with the tools they need to succeed. By connecting federations across Europe, GLOBALCELL’s innovative eSIM technology aligns with ECU’s mission to foster the growth and
