Hutto breaking ground on Fritz Park enhancements
HUTTO, Texas (KXAN) -- Hutto city leaders will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Friday afternoon to celebrate the upcoming renovations to Fritz Park.
The park was originally built in 2006 but has seen little upgrades in the 18 years since. Jeff White, the city's Parks and Recreation Director, said it has become a centralized park for the people of Hutto, and it was necessary to keep it safe and accessible.
"These upgrades will allow us to have more recreational opportunities, support healthier lifestyles, and create a welcoming space for all ages and abilities," White explained.
The $11 million project has plans to add these amenities to the park:
- Splash pad
- Skate park
- Small stage and lawn area
- Pond
- Lighted walking trails
- Bigger playgrounds with more shade
- Modern bathrooms
- Upgraded basketball courts
The project is expected to be finished by fall of 2025. During construction the main part of the park will be closed to the public. The baseball field, football field, and walking trails will still be accessible to the public.
The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled at 1:45 p.m. at the park. The community is invited to attend.
