Dry to wet weather transition expected around Portland this weekend
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Increasing clouds and mild temperatures today are the start of a dry-to-wet transition Portland will see in the coming days.
Expect partly sunny skies today around the Pacific Northwest. Afternoon highs will climb into the low 60s once again as rain showers stay offshore over the Pacific Ocean.
A steady stream of clouds will move into the Pacific Northwest tonight and Saturday. However, rain showers aren't expected to arrive until the later afternoon or evening on Saturday. Showers continue into Sunday with around 0.3" of rainfall in the gauge by the end of the weekend.
Snow elevation levels will fall to 5,000' on Saturday and Sunday. Mt. Hood's snow accumulation will only amount to a couple of inches of snow by the end of the weekend. Weather models then show significant snowfall back in the Cascades with feet of new snow forecast by late next week as the wet and cool weather continues.
Keep the rain jackets handy. We'll see rounds of wet weather continuing in Portland next week.
