Who is Twitch streamer and rapper Tays and when will he appear on FootAsylum’s Locked In series?
TAYS is a famous rapper and influencer from Manchester, who went viral on the social media platform Twitch.
The online personality will be taking part in Footasylum’s Locked In series, which will see him go head-to-head with his celebrity cast-mates for cash prizes.
Social media stardom
Tays began his rapping career in his bedroom but his career took off when he started posting his music online.
Since then, he has penned songs including Your Tings My Tings and Perfect Girl.
Social media has been an integral part of Tays’ success, as he has been able to promote his music through his Twitch channel taysmcrr.
On the video game streaming website, Tays have over 60,000 followers.
The Manchester music scene
Tays is part of a new wave of rappers coming out of Manchester, with acts such as Aitch and Bugzy Malone reaching new highs in the UK charts.
The rapper thinks this success has a lot to do with the collaborative nature of the Manchester scene.
He told the BBC: “We’re always with each other and want everyone to succeed.
“I think that’s why [the rap scene is] growing so much.”
He added that he thinks Manchester is now “neck and neck” with London in terms of its music scene.
Some of the most iconic British bands of all time call the North-Western city home including Oasis, The Smiths and Joy Division.
FootAsylum’s Locked In
Tays will be taking part in the fifth series of Footasylum’s Locked In, a show where famous influencers must live and work together to win prizes.
He will be joined by Heather Bowling, who also lives in Manchester, and other stars including Scouse Mali and Jack Joseph.
The show kicked off on October 30, 2024, and the housemates will be locked in together for 14 days.
