Wife tired after court date rescheduled again for mistress allegedly involved in fake divorce scheme
VERMILION PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- Teqela Francis is still waiting on justice in the case of a woman accused of impersonating her in a scheme to file fraudulent divorce papers.
Thursday morning the accused mistress, LaShonda Pope, had a court appearance in Vermilion Parish in front of Judge Thomas Frederick. She faces a charge of first-degree injuring of public records.
Francis said the pursuit of justice is tiresome, explaining she has to drive from Texas to Vermilion Parish for each of Pope's court dates.
“It's tiresome. I'm having to just continuously come back and forth here to get a reset court date every time, because she's continuously changing her attorney. Get in touch with the attorney, and the attorneys do not even represent her and I'm having to come back because the court date is being reset,” Francis said.
“...Having to take off from work and maybe lose time from work, having to put gas to go and come back like it's ridiculous. I just wanted this to be over," she continued.
However, she said she will continue to show up to the court dates until justice is served.
“I'm looking for her to be incarcerated because how do you just go about pretending to be a person that you're not and subpoenaing me at your place of residence and then sign my name on divorce papers? It's just devastating. I mean, I would have never, you know, in a million years thought that somebody would do something like that. That is crazy,” she said.
After being in court from 9 a.m. until after 1 p.m., the judge reset the date to Dec. 5.
