Albany County military veterans honored for their service
GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Albany County held its biannual celebration on Thursday of veterans who have left an impact due to their service in the armed forces. In a ceremony held in Crossgates Mall, three local veterans were honored.
Their service ranged from World War II to recent conflicts in the Middle East.
Frank Bielawa served in the Army during the Normandy landings, James Sill served in the Navy reserve in Vietnam, and Denis Topliffe served in the infantry in Iraq. They were recognized for their service.
This is the 20th year the event has been held in Albany County. More than 50 veterans have been honored over the years.
