Rondae Hollis-Jefferson donates Best Import purse to charity
MANILA, Philippines – Rondae Hollis-Jefferson is putting his earnings from winning Best Import in the PBA Governors’ Cup to a good cause.
TNT on Friday, November 8, announced that Hollis-Jefferson is donating his cash prize of P50,000 to the Alagang Kapatid Foundation.
Alagang Kapatid is the same foundation that received P2 million from the PBA as the league donated all proceeds of Game 1 of the finals to those affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.
Hollis-Jefferson earned a second straight Best Import plum in the Governors’ Cup, becoming just the 11th player in league history to win the award multiple times.
Beating out Barangay Ginebra reinforcement Justin Brownlee for the honors, Hollis-Jefferson pulled level with the likes of legends Norman Black and Billy Ray Bates for Best Import wins.
The former NBA player will also get a chance to become a two-time champion, with TNT seeking to complete its title defense as it goes for the clincher against Barangay Ginebra in Game 6 on Friday at the Araneta Coliseum.
Hollis-Jefferson has maintained his dominant form in the best-of-seven championship duel, averaging 24.8 points, 11.2 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.2 blocks in the series to help TNT clinch a 3-2 lead. – Rappler.com
