Man allegedly brings machine gun into subway station, resists arrest: NYPD
KINGSBRIDGE HEIGHTS, The Bronx (PIX11) -- Police arrested a 20-year-old man accused of trespassing inside an unauthorized area of a subway station in the Bronx on Tuesday.
The incident happened inside the Kingsbridge Road subway station.
Police say officers noticed the man trespassing inside an unauthorized area on the northbound tunnel.
They approached the individual who refused to provide an ID, according to the NYPD.
When the officers tried to place the man under arrest, a struggle ensued, at which point a machine gun fell out of the man's backpack, police say. Two officers were injured during the incident.
The man, identified as Abraham Sosa, was charged with criminal possession of a machine gun, assaulting police officers, and resisting arrest, among other charges.
Police say a second person, Christopher Mayren, 21, interfered and kicked an officer-worn body camera onto the subway tracks.
Mayren was charged with aggravated harassment, obstruction of governmental administration, and criminal mischief, among other charges.
The two officers injured were taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, police say.
