49ers star Nick Bosa: Wearing MAGA hat worth it even if NFL imposes fine
San Francisco 49ers star defensive end Nick Bosa said wearing a MAGA hat on live TV was worth it, even if the NFL fines him for it.
After a win against the Dallas Cowboys late last month, Bosa interrupted a live postgame interview to highlight his support for now President-elect Trump.
Bosa spoke to the media after Trump won the election, noting if the NFL fined him for jumping into the interview with a political message, it wouldn’t matter much to him.
“I don’t know,” he said when asked if he thought he would get a fine. “I haven’t gotten one yet, but if it comes, it comes.”
He added that he knew he could get a fine from the NFL, but it was “well worth it.”
Bosa said his position supporting Trump isn't going to change.
“Clearly, the nation spoke, and we got what we got,” he said.
After Bosa crashed the live interview wearing the hat, he was asked by a reporter at a postgame press conference about his political statement.
“I’m not going to talk too much about it, but I think it’s an important time,” he said.
Bosa was asked whether he had been tempted to show his support for Trump in the past.
“It’s definitely a little easier nowadays, but no, I don’t feel too inclined to do that,” he said, adding that it’s “just a different climate.”
Bosa met Trump at the UFC fight in Miami earlier this year and took a picture with the former president, along with Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.
