60-degree weather, sunshine returns to Oregon and Washington
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Get outside and enjoy the unseasonably warm and sunny weather expected around the Portland, Vancouver area on Thursday.
Sunny skies and easterly winds will help warm temperatures into the low to mid-60s for some Thursday afternoon. It may be pleasant enough to hang out in just a t-shirt and a pair of sunglasses later today. Expect breezy winds and wind gusts on the east sides of the metro area up to 20 mph throughout the afternoon.
Clouds will start to increase across the region by the end of the week. Temperatures will linger in the upper 50s to low-60s on Friday. Rain chances aren't expected to return to western Oregon and southwest Washington until later in the day on Saturday.
College football games this weekend in Corvallis and Eugene could run into a few light rain showers. The rain potential is more elevated for the University of Oregon game in Eugene due to it starting later in the day on Saturday.
Cooler and wetter weather doesn't mean snow is expected to return to the region. Snow elevations will remain around 6,000' to 7,000' through the weekend. That means only the peaks of Oregon and Washington's volcanoes will see snow.
Soggy weather is expected to last through the middle of next week. A few dry moments are likely on Tuesday, but rain and cooler conditions are more likely next week than this week's warmer and sunnier weather pattern.
