Spurs star feels more comfortable under Ange Postecoglou – ‘He protects us’
One Spurs midfielder is thoroughly enjoying working with Ange Postecoglou, insisting that the team has made considerable progress since the Australian arrived at the club.
From a forgotten man to an important player
Pape Matar Sarr hardly got a look in under Antonio Conte, even though he gave a decent account of himself whenever a rare opportunity came his way.
However, from day one under Postecoglou, Pape Sarr has been a key player for the Spurs side and he now plays with such maturity that it is sometimes easy to forget that he is only 22 years of age.
The midfielder has been one of Tottenham‘s star performers in their last two wins over Manchester City and Aston Villa, and he admitted that he is loving life at N17.

Sarr confessed that Postecoglou‘s tactical approach is one that suits him well as a player, remarking that the manager wants the side to play ‘beautiful football’ without any fear.
The former Metz man pointed out that the results are now trending positively, speaking highly of the squad that has now been assembled at N17.
When asked about working with Postecoglou at Spurs, Pape Sarr told Optus Sport: “Only good things. Since he’s been here I feel more comfortable. He likes football as I like to say. He also protects us and wants us to play beautiful football.
“We are doing a very good job with him and you can see it in the results. He’s only been here for two years but the squad is solid, we win matches and we play good football and this is good for him and also for us it is important.”
Challenging start to his Tottenham spell
While things are now looking rosy for Sarr, it was not all smooth sailing for the midfielder in his first couple of years in North London.
The midfielder admitted that he found it hard to cope with not playing and had challenges adapting off the field following his move from France.
When asked about his early days at Tottenham, Sarr said: “I don’t like talking about my debut at Tottenham because it wasn’t easy. It was a season full of tough times, but I was ready for that.
“I already told myself it wouldn’t be easy. I had to work hard every time I had the chance to play. Back at Metz, I played every match, but at Tottenham it was complicated.
“I was alone in London it was difficult. There were times where I didn’t feel good. It wasn’t an excuse but if you mix all of this with what was happening on the pitch, things get very tough.
“From Metz to Tottenham it wasn’t easy for me, but I knew at some point things would get better.”
