Pope Francis keeps tweeting about the New Orleans Saints by accident
Pope Francis — or his social media manager, I’m guessing — is pretty active on X (formerly Twitter), with Biblical quotes, prayers and messages to the world.
But the @Pontifex account has been bombarded with NFL jokes as of late. Why is that?
Because he keeps tweeting about saints. But he keeps using the hashtag #Saints, and that triggers the New Orleans Saints’ Fleur-de-lis logo to show up.
So, yeah. This is quite funny and it keeps happening, and the jokes keep being hilarious. Here’s a look at the tweets we’ve seen, and maybe the pope and his staff will catch on:
The #Saints are formed by the Beatitudes: poor, meek, merciful, hungering and thirsting for justice, seeking peace. They are “filled with God” and incapable of remaining indifferent to the needs of their neighbour. They bear witness to paths of light that we too can trod.

The #Saints are precious pearls and are always living and relevant, because they provide a fascinating commentary on the Gospel. Their lives are an illustration of the Good News that Jesus brought to humanity: God is our Father, who loves everyone with boundless love.

We cannot become #Saints with a frown. We must have joyful hearts that remain open to hope.

I’m sorry Pope but the #Saints will not go marching this year

Even the Pope is excited we fired Dennis Allen

Your Holiness, I have no #Saints on my roster. Is this something I need to take to confession?
