Hibernian Community Foundation’s Dedication To Helping The Less Fortunate
One of the main aims of the Hibernian Community Foundation is to benefit people in our community who are less fortunate.
While Edinburgh is one of the country’s most affluent cities, there are neighbourhoods within walking distance of Easter Road Stadium that are categorised as being among the top 5% most disadvantaged in Scotland.
As a pillar of the local community, Hibernian Football Club recognises its responsibility to support those disadvantaged in Leith and the surrounding areas; with the Hibernian Community Foundation acting as the key service provider for those in need.
In providing for those in need, HCF arranges a number of initiatives for the community to benefit from. As well as the regular football sessions provided from Ron Gordon’s Extra Time, HCF organises two weekly lunches out of the Community Hub through partnerships with local charities and foodbanks, as well as a number of dinners every month for community members from a variety of faiths.
All meals with Hibernian Community Foundation are free to attend and open to all with a variety of meals served, which also include some special menus around times of celebration.
More than a food service provider, HCF also delivers a range of services for people seeking mental health support through Andy’s Man Club and Hibs SOS (Support our Supporters), social events for the elderly, warm clothes and haircuts for the needy, and a social choir and tai chi events for those in the community looking to get involved.
HCF are proud of all the different avenues of support they offer the community, and with your help can increase the activities provided.
