Woman arrested for illegally staying in Cyprus
A 35-year-old woman was arrested on Wednesday by Paphos police for illegally staying in the Republic.
The woman presented a Georgian passport, but it was later revealed that she had arrived in October 2016 and since November 2016 was staying in the country illegally.
According to her employer she was using a Greek ID card that had her picture but a different name from hers. The police claim she was doing this to register for social security and to secure a work permit in the Republic.
According to the assistant police director of Paphos Michalis Nikolaou, the woman was spotted while she was working on Wednesday night in an ice cream parlor, by members of the immigration services.
The woman is arrested and her case is investigated for fake document, impersonation and illegally staying in the Republic.
