Afghan national shot dead in Khash, Iran: Halvash Report
The Halvash organization reported that an Afghan street vendor was killed by unknown armed individuals on Rudaki Road in Khash city, Sistan and Baluchestan province, Iran.
According to the report, the man was shot six times on the evening of Tuesday, November 5, while selling goods on the street.
Halvash stated that the victim was a middle-aged Afghan street vendor.
The report described the incident: “On Tuesday evening, on Rudaki Street at Saravan intersection in Khash city, an Afghan national pushing a cart was targeted by armed individuals and died instantly after being struck by six bullets.”
No further information has been released regarding the victim’s identity, the assailants, or the motive behind the killing. The Iranian authorities and state media have yet to comment officially on this incident.
This is not an isolated incident in the region. Earlier this year, in September, another Afghan citizen in Sistan and Baluchestan lost his life after being shot by unidentified armed attackers.
The plight of Afghan refugees in Iran has become increasingly dire, with reports of harassment, violence, and forced deportations. Amid the harsh humanitarian conditions, Afghan refugees face constant threats and instability.
Ahead of the cold winter in Afghanistan, forced deportations have added to the distress of Afghan refugees. Many fear returning to an environment of poverty and limited resources, making their lives even more vulnerable.
