8:00 p.m. – “Previously on ‘Survivor’!” In the seventh episode, Jeff divided the 12 castaways into two groups, with the team composed of Genevieve, Teeny, Andy, Sam, Sierra, and Sol winning the reward meal and immunity. Kyle earned individual immunity for his group, which meant either Rachel, Tiyana, Gabe, Caroline, or Sue were about to be ousted. Rachel was greatly outnumbered since the other five were all original Tuku members. But when Sol found an advantage and secretly gifted it to Rachel, she used it to leave tribal council, saving her life in the game. Tuku then turned on each other, with Tiyana going home. So who will be voted out tonight?
8:02 p.m. – Having left tribal council, Rachel returned alone at first worrying about how the others would feel about her saving herself with the advantage. When the rest of the tribe returned, the big question was who gave her the advantage, but Sol was keeping that information to himself in a long term plan to use the gift as a way of pulling her in to his side. Once he could pull her aside on their own, Sol told her that he gave it to her and she admitted that her first thought was that it came from him so she gladly committed to working with him. Later, Sam approached Rachel to discuss how strong of a bond the non-Tuku players built while noticing that Tuku was obviously sticking together to oust her before she threw a wrench in their plans.
8:06 p.m. – The next day the players were brought to the site of the “Survivor Auction” where they would get to throw down money to bid on items. In order to distribute the money, the players had to scavenge through the jungle looking for bundles of money. In the hunt, Andy got frustrated that he wasn’t finding any despite walking by many in plain sight so by the end, Andy had no bundles of money while Sierra had the most at a total of $1,060 compared to everyone else having totals in the couple of hundreds.
8:15 p.m. – At the auction on Day 14, Jeff reminded the players that it was a “new era auction” in the sense that they’d all have varying amounts of money due to the search and the player with the most money by the end of the auction losing their vote. Only Jeff knows the total amount of items from 5 to 15 in the auction and will end it without notice. Sol bought potato chips and a soda for $60, Teeny bought mac and cheese for $640, Sierra bought chips with salsa, guacamole and a margarita for $800, Kyle bought buffalo wings with ranch dip, celery and carrots for $560 (and ate it despite being a vegan), Gabe bought a covered item for $660 and got a coconut filled with water, Sol bought a whole apple pie and a $60 kick-back for $540, and Rachel bought a burger and fries with a beer for $500.
8:31 p.m. – While eating her fries, Rachel noticed a piece of paper in her bowl, but wasn’t sure how to take it out without being noticed. Meanwhile, Genevieve bought a plate of donuts and cupcakes for $440 which gave Rachel the opportunity to sneak the paper out and slip it in her bra. Next, Jeff offered a breakfast spread on the condition that anyone could throw down $200 in order to have a chance to compete for it. Sue, Sierra, Sam and Caroline all paid $200 to compete at swallowing two live grubs quickest. At that point Sierra bowed out and then Sam bested both Sue and Caroline in the race, spending his money for the breakfast while everyone else got their money back. Sue then bought a burrito and iced tea for $380, Caroline bought fish eyes for $280, and Sierra bought a bowl of peanut butter and chocolate to share with two players of choice (Gabe and Caroline) for three minutes for her remaining $260. That was the last item, leaving Sam as the player with the most money ($160) at the end and the prize of losing his vote.
8:42 p.m. – Back at camp, Rachel opened her note to learn that there’s a hidden immunity idol sewn into their tarp. Before she could find time to retrieve it, Sierra pulled her and Teeny for a conversation about building an alliance between original Gata and Lavo to “knock out Tuku” together. They agreed that Kyle should be their first target because he’s the biggest challenge threat. At the same time, Genevieve pulled Sue and Caroline to catch up on what they missed in the two split groups because she is more concerned with the Gata four than the Tuku four because they’re stronger. She planted the seed of going for Sam or Rachel next, prioritizing Rachel as a “sneaky threat” while leaving Sam in the game longer keeps him around as a threat. Later, Rachel found an opportunity while everyone was sitting in the shelter to go to the backside with the machete to cut out the hidden idol undetected while the rest of the players were distracted.
8:51 p.m. – For the Day 15 immunity challenge the players had to hold on to a tightly wound rope on a handle holding up a bucket weighing 25% of their pre-game body weight. Jeff let them know that both men and women have won the challenge in the past and that today the last woman and last man in the challenge will both earn immunity. In the challenge itself, Sam and Genevieve were the first to drop followed by Teeny all in under one minute. Sierra and Gabe dropped next, then Caroline and Sol. When Rachel dropped, Sue became the female winner. When Andy dropped, Kyle became the male winner.
9:04 p.m. – With immunity around his neck again, Kyle well understood the kind of target he was painting on his back, but he was happy to feel safe for now. For the non-Tuku players, the fact that both Sue and Kyle were off the table made it an easier decision for them to pick between just Caroline and Gabe for their vote. No one thought they needed to split the vote and Sam helped the group decide to “keep it clean” and just all vote for Gabe. At one point, Sierra went to Andy asking if he’s still working with them and not realizing that he’s aware they’re using him as a disposable pawn. Wanting to be a “new Andy” and become a “pivotal” player at the merge, he put in the work to build a new alliance with Lavo and Tuku against the original Gata in discussions with Sol, Caroline, and Gabe. The decision on their hand was whether they split the group by taking out Sierra or Sam first. Genevieve, Sol and Teeny all discussed their options from the middle and there was differing opinions. Teeny didn’t want to lose Sierra because she feels close to her so she tried to pitch the group on voting Sam out instead. Genevieve made the case that they should go for Rachel though because none of them would play an idol on her, but Sol wanted to keep her around because of the work he put in to earn her trust.
9:15 p.m. – At tribal council, Gabe said “there’s a lot of moving parts and people were lied to today.” Andy played his part to feel left out of the loop again because of the two votes he got at the last tribal. Genevieve made the point that large groups are harder to navigate because you have to rely on more people and so no one is ever in total control of all the numbers. When Andy was asked about his confidence level, he reminded the group that he was left out last time and that tonight he is confident he’s on the right side. Jeff asked the group who feels uncertain they know where the vote is going and everyone raised their hand.
9:21 p.m. – While votes were being cast, Rachel pulled something out of her bag and slipped it into her pocket with Caroline perhaps seeing that she did it. When asked, Rachel decided to play her Shot in the Dark, explaining that she felt a “feeling of dread.” The scroll she chose said “Not Safe” though and so any votes for her still counted. Jeff read the votes: Sam, Gabe, Sam, Sierra, Sam, Sierra, Sam, Sierra, Sierra. The tie vote typically insists that the tied players don’t re-vote, but because Sam didn’t have a vote, Sierra still gets to vote. After new ballots were cast, Jeff read the votes: Sam, Sierra, Sierra, Sierra, Sierra, Sierra. On her way out, Sierra declared that it’s an honor they think she’s the biggest threat.
NEXT TIME: Sam has a “vendetta” while Gabe, Sol, Kyle and Sue all have their names thrown out as options to go next.
