QPR pre match chat
As per usual with mid week games an early next match thread.
On paper a very favourable one against a QPR side struggling in 23rd 5 points from safety.
Our result vs Millwall does mean we won't be able to reach the 2points per game mark for the international break and anything but a win would see us below last seasons 28 points at the same stage.
However QPR at Elland Road in the current state they are in is a decent opportunity to say the least.
Last season Marti Cifuentes did a superb job turning them around but this season has been a struggle.
They are bottom of the form table for the last 10 games.
All be it should be said they have taken the majority of the points they have managed away from home.
And they do strangely have quite a few eye catching results, not wins but.
Draws against Sunderland, Sheffield United, Burnley and Millwall, 4 of the top 5 and no defeats.
They don't win many games (1) but they actually don't lose that many, 6, the same as Watford in 6th, only 1 more than Boro and Blackburn and Swansea who are all top 10.
It's an inability to turn draws into wins that is costing them (joint most draws with Bristol City) and perhaps in the desperation to do that they leave themselves open and concede (23 goals conceded).
But as the lack of defeats shows they may not be a million miles away from finding some form.
And it also has to be said they are injury ravaged and have been all season with only 4 players playing over 1000 minutes (for comparison we have 7).
And at no time has it been worse than now with 8 first team players missing vs Middlesbrough.
Included in those 8 were top scorer Michael Frey, experienced midfielder Jack Colback, defensive giant Jake Clarke-Salter and tricky winger Karemoko Dembele who with Frey has the most goals or assists this season for QPR with 4 all missed Boro.
In addition talismanic playmaker Ilias Chair whose only managed 7 appearances this season went off injured as well making him a doubt for Saturday.
So it's fair to say circumstances haven't been kind.
Nonetheless it's all to our advantage hopefully.
A damp squib of a performance vs Millwall may hopefully focus minds at the club.
Is Farke likely to make changes?
Bogle was particularly awful, Aaronson was ineffective, do we really need 2 holding midfielders against an injury ravaged QPR?
