‘We gonna be a world champ by next year’: Davis exudes confidence at final presser for Lemos fight
Keyshawn Davis and Gustavo Lemos appear for their final press conference before they fight this Friday night.
With Keyshawn Davis set to make his next appearance, headlining against Gustavo Lemos this Friday in his hometown of Norfolk, VA, both fighters appeared for their final press conference before meeting in the ring.
When Davis was asked about the importance of putting on a show in front of his hometown crowd, he had this to say.
“Every single time I get in that ring I love putting on shows,” Davis said. “I like having fun but I also like the people around me to have fun so whenever you watch my fight and I feel like I’m not doing enough I’m going to do even more and then some. I’m a dramatic fighter. I just like doing the unexpected, so expect that Friday night.”
When Lemos was asked about this thoughts on Davis perhaps biting off more than he can chew in this matchup, Lemos gave a rather reserved response.
“I’ve always said he’s a good opponent and that we’re going to have a good fight. That’s what I’ve always said,” Lemos said through a translator. “I respect all my opponents, good or bad, so I want to wish him good luck on Friday and take care.”
Davis was then asked about taking on Lemos at this point in his career and why it’s the right move.
“I feel like I’m ready for any opponent at 135, whether its the #1 or the #8 or whatever,” Davis said. “I feel like I’m ready for anything. After this fight, when I get a spectacular win, I’m going for the world title. So that’s after this fight, so Lemos is just another opponent ahead of me that I just got to knock that obstacle down and we gonna be a world champ by next year.”
