Harris Calls Trump to Concede US Presidential Election, Biden Congratulates New President-Elect
Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris called Donald Trump on Wednesday to congratulate the Republican leader on his US presidential election win, two aides to Harris said.
Harris, who is scheduled to make public remarks later on Wednesday, also “discussed the importance of a peaceful transfer of power and being a president for all Americans,” a senior Harris aide said.
Meanwhile, incumbent US President Joe Biden on Wednesday called to congratulate Trump on his presidential election victory and invite him to meet at the White House and will address the nation on Thursday.
The White House, in a statement after Trump beat Harris, said Biden also committed “to ensuring a smooth transition and emphasized the importance of working to bring the country together.” Biden has also spoken with Harris, it added.
Trump will officially be inaugurated and succeed Biden as president in January.
