Netflix is following up 'Fool Me Once' with another Harlan Coben thriller. Here's what we know about 'Missing You.'
- "Missing You" is the next Harlan Coben mystery coming to Netflix in 2025.
- The most recent Coben show, "Fool Me Once," became one of Netflix's most-watched shows.
- It follows a detective who sees her ex-fiancé on a dating app after he mysteriously disappeared.
Netflix found huge success with "Fool Me Once," based on a novel by Harlan Coben — and is about to serve up another.
"Missing You" is the streamer's fifth Coben adaptation following "Safe," "Stay Close," "The Stranger," and "Fool Me Once" — which quickly became one of Netflix's most-watched shows shortly after its release in January.
The show starred Michelle Keegan as Maya Stern, an ex-soldier, who sees her dead husband on a nanny cam inside her house and sparks a search for the truth.
It's unsurprising that Netflix quickly got to work on another show after the overwhelming success of "Fool Me Once," and it will follow a similar mystery.
Here's what we know about "Missing You," which is due to drop early in the new year.
"Missing You" is about a detective who sees her ex-fiancé on a dating app
The series is based on Coben's 2014 novel, which is about NYPD Detective Kat Donovan. Her life begins to unravel when she spots her ex-fiancé on a dating site after he mysteriously disappeared several years earlier.
In October, Netflix revealed the synopsis of its adaptation of "Missing You" and also confirmed that it will be set in the UK rather than New York.
"Eleven years ago, Detective Kat Donovan's fiancé, Josh — the love of her life — disappeared, and she hasn't heard from him since. Now, swiping profiles on a dating app, she sees his face, and her world explodes all over again. Josh's reappearance forces her to dive back into the mystery surrounding her father's murder and uncover long-buried secrets from her past."
"Slow Horses" star Rosalind Eleazar plays Donovan opposite "Top Boy" actor Ashley Walters as her ex-fiancé, Josh. Lenny Henry plays her father, Clint Donovan.
"Missing You" features several actors from Harlan Coben's previous shows
Netflix will release "Missing You" on January 1, 2025, exactly one year after "Fool Me Once" dropped. This suggests that the streamer is looking to replicate the huge success of the previous series with the new story.
"Missing You" also features a number of stars who have appeared in other Coben adaptations.
Richard Armitage, who starred in "Stay Close," "The Stranger," and "Fool Me Once," plays Ellis Stagger. Marc Warren, who appeared in "Safe," plays Monte Leburn, and James Nesbitt, who worked with Armitage on "Stay Close," plays Calligan.
"Missing You" also includes several well-known British faces including Steve Pemberton, Matt Jay-Willis, and Samantha Spiro.
