Strike first look as hit BBC series returns after two years off screen
FANS of detective drama Strike can get their first look at the upcoming series, as new pictures from the BBC drama have been released.
The latest series of Strike, featuring Tom Burke as Cormoran Strike and Holliday Grainger as Robin Ellacott, will air in December on BBC One.
Strike will return for the sixth installment in December to BBC One[/caption] The last series of Strike left a romance hanging in the balance for Cormoran and Robin[/caption]The new season will focus on the book The Ink Black Heart, which is the sixth book in the drama series adapted from J.K. Rowling’s best-selling crime novels written under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith.
In pictures from the new series, Cormoran and Robin can be seen working alongside each other as their ‘will they/won’t they’ chemistry hangs in the balance.
At the end of season five in 2022, Cormoran failed to confess his true feelings for Robin as she navigated her way after divorce.
Yet it remains to be seen whether series six will see a romance or a happy ending for the detective pair.
The BBC revealed the twist and turns for the new storyline as it revealed: “When frantic, desperate Edie Ledwell appears in the office begging to speak to her, private detective Robin Ellacott doesn’t know quite what to make of the situation.
“The co-creator of a popular cartoon, The Ink Black Heart, Edie is being persecuted by a mysterious online figure who goes by the pseudonym of Anomie.
“Edie is desperate to uncover Anomie’s true identity.
“Robin informs Edie that the agency is too busy to take on her case and thinks nothing more of it until a few weeks later, when she reads the shocking news that Edie has been tasered and then murdered in Highgate Cemetery, the location of The Ink Black Heart.
Robin and her business partner Cormoran Strike become drawn into the quest to uncover Anomie’s true identity. But with a complex web of online aliases, business interests and family conflicts to navigate, Strike and Robin find themselves embroiled in a case that stretches them to their limit.”
Strike is one of the UK’s most watched dramas with the most recent instalment, Strike -Troubled Blood, averaging 8.4 million viewers across its run in 2022.
Strike was first broadcast on BBC One in August 2017, with subsequent series airing in 2017, 2018, 2020 and 2022.
Earlier this year stars Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger teased fans as they revealed filming had begun for the new series.
