Election 2024 live updates: GOP revels in Trump victory as Democrats point fingers
Former President Trump will return to the White House, with key swing states breaking his way Tuesday, according to projections from Decision Desk HQ.
Trump flipped Georgia, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, and kept North Carolina red. In traditionally blue counties, he outperformed his 2020 results. He is on track to win well more than the necessary 270 Electoral College votes.
Vice President Harris's campaign maintained late Tuesday that it was not yet out of the race, but then her Howard University appearance was canceled. There's been no word yet on when she will appear on Wednesday. And the Democratic Party's dissection of what went wrong began immediately.
In Congress, Republicans took back the Senate majority after four years, though a handful of seats remain uncalled. Control of the House remains uncertain.
