Dirty Franks announces opening date, new menu for Ohio State location
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Dirty Frank’s hot dogs will welcome Ohio State University students this Thursday.
The Columbus chain has expanded near campus, and it will officially welcome customers Thursday night. Initially, Dirty Frank’s new location at 2036 N. High St. was scheduled to open in mid-October but faced delays in its inspection process.
Dirty Frank’s has also released the menu for its campus location, and its hot dog selections appear the same as its original menu. In sweets, it has added a “Buckeye Blondie” with peanut butter, marshmallow swirls and an Oreo crust atop a chocolate chunk brownie. The OSU location will also not offer its Purple Cow float or grape soda.
The biggest changes from Dirty Frank's other menus are found in its liquor list. The Lilikoi Lemonade, Martini McFly, Warm and Fuzzy, Raspberry Beret and Mule Never Take Me Alive drinks are all off of the Ohio State menu. Smurf Blood has been rebranded as Wolverine Blood for the Buckeye audience, and the restaurant added four new cocktails:
- The Brutus, a PBR pint and one-ounce whiskey shot for $5.
- Ride the Lightning, a $5 mix of coconut rum, passionfruit juice, lemonade and blue curacao.
- Roasted & Toasted, which combines Captain Morgan spiced rum, amaretto, espresso and root beer for a $6.50 drink.
- Pretty in Pink, a $6 drink made of Smirnoff citrus vodka, triple sec, lime juice, simple syrup and cranberry juice.
A representative from Dirty Franks said the store will initially only have evening hours, but will expand to lunch time as well in the coming weeks. The restaurant chain has not yet released its hours of operation.
