KXAN projections: Who won Austin mayor? Austin City Council seats?
Editor's Note: Above is KXAN's coverage of the Austin mayoral race in our 10 p.m. newscast.
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Austin mayoral race will be too close to call until official results come out, which will account for some final mail-in ballots, military or overseas ballots and provisional ballots.
All of those ballots have to be counted by Nov. 18, according to the Texas Secretary of State.
To avoid a runoff, a candidate needs more than 50% of the vote. Austin Mayor Kirk Watson has 50.01% of the overall vote as of the early morning hours of Nov. 6.
Those additional ballots could push Watson into a runoff with Carmen Llanes Pulido.
