Match Preview: Gateshead (H)
Next up for AFC Fylde is a clash back on home soil as the Coasters host Gateshead in our annual Remembrance fixture at Mill Farm.
The day will be decorated with plenty of activities, celebrating and remembering those who have served our country.
Whilst plenty will be taking place off the pitch, Kevin Phillips’ side will be looking to bounce back on it after a disappointing defeat last time out when we faced Altrincham.
Opposition Dugout: Carl Magnay
Born in Gateshead, Magnay is no stranger to the side in which he recently took over last month replacing Rob Elliot.
The former defender played well over 75 games for the Heed over two spells as a player before taking charge of the side in October following Rob Elliot’s departure for Sky Bet League One side Crawley Town.
It’s the 35 year old’s first managerial role after spending large parts of his playing career in the north east, featuring for the likes of Hartlepool, Grimsby and Spennymoor Town.
Since being appointed, Magnay is yet to taste defeat in league action, beating Sutton United and Solihull Moors as well as earning a point at Altrincham.
One to watch: Owen Eseni
With seven goal contributions to his name already this season including a last minute winner against Solihull Moors, Eseni is a striker that can cause all sorts of problems.
The 21-year-old has set down some roots at Gateshead this season since joining in the summer from Derby County.
The striker has endured a couple of loan spells to the likes of Nuneaton and Rushall Olympic before leaving Derby’s U21’s in the summer.
His spell with Rushall in the National League North was a successful one which saw him score eight goals and grab one assist in just 15 league games, before becoming Rob Elliot’s first signing at the International Stadium.
