The Everton Forum • Re: West Ham v Everton
All good.If I've misunderstood your point then I apologise but I'm slightly baffled at the moment.
Point was that they're not necessarily easy beats, and don't always offer up many chances, not even to vastly better teams than us.
Previous game they almost held maybe the best team on the planet (minus arguably the best player on the planet), away, with nearly 45% possession.
Despite being labelled as possession heavy, loose, and a bit naive, which to some extent they are, they are still capable of doing a decent job defensively, given they very much outperformed what even an average team might have been expected to do against City.
Not that Southampton's performance was 100% Peps motivation to praise Martin so heavily, but that he did, and that Southampton so frustrated City, means something.
They also did well against Newcastle away which they were unlucky to lose.
We were riding on the back of confidence from the last 5 games, which didn't help with our expectations, but realistically we're not that much better with our 2 less than convincing wins.
