Hunt for heavily-tattooed ex-Hollywood star who police say ‘do not approach’
A former Hollywood actor who was jailed for attacking his ex-girlfriend is wanted by police for breaching his licence conditions.
Heavily tattooed Jason Hoganson, 53, is said to be ‘actively evading arrest’ as he is wanted by Northumbria Police for recall to prison.
Hoganson was pictured on September 10 giving a thumbs up as he walked out of Durham Prison, three weeks into an 18-month prison sentence for attacking his ex.
A day later, he was back in police custody after being arrested in Newcastle’s West End suspected of assault and two counts of breaching a restraining order.
Hoganson, who played a leading role in the 1987 Hollywood film Empire State, is now at the centre of a wanted person appeal.
Northumbria Police said: ‘It is believed that Hoganson is actively evading arrest and that he could be anywhere in our Force area or County Durham.
‘Anyone who sees Hoganson should not approach him and instead contact us immediately. Please be aware that harbouring a wanted person is an offence and those involved could face prosecution.’
Having served most of his 18-month sentence on remand, Hoganson was automatically released at the halfway mark.
His release came on the same day as 1,750 prisoners were freed early as part of an emergency government to ease overcrowding in prisons.
At the time, his brother Michael confirmed the release date was known well in advance and he was not let out early.
After ending up back in custody and being brought before court, Hoganson denied the assault and one of the counts of breaching a restraining order, but admitted the other.
He had been due to attend South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court on October 30 for trial.
Northumbria Police did not disclose how Hoganson ended up being released on license.
Metro has approached the Ministry of Justice for clarification.
Anyone with information on Hoganson’s whereabouts is asked to send Northumbria Police a direct message on social media, use the live chat function on their website or call 101 immediately quoting log number NP-20241031-1343.
