‘This feels more like 2016 than 2020’: CNN’s Chris Wallace makes election night prediction
CNN anchor Chris Wallace said Tuesday night that, as the map looks increasingly in favor of Donald Trump reaching the 270 electoral vote threshold, the moment feels “more like 2016 than 2020.”
The former Fox New host told his fellow CNN anchors during the network's election night coverage that it was just before midnight four years ago that Fox News made “the very controversial call” in Arizona.
“And that changed the whole feeling,” Wallace said. “And that’s one of the reasons the Trump campaign was so furious about that call because it was the first flip and first indication that maybe it was going to be different than 2016.”
“Right at this moment this does feel more like 2016 than 2020,” he said.
Wallace continued his on-air assessment by saying that, while there are still states to be called, “generally speaking, he is overperforming what he did in 2020 and she is underperforming what Joe Biden did in 2020.”
“That ends up with what was a narrow edge for Biden,” Wallace said. “At this point, we have to condition it, a narrow defeat for Harris.”
