Pat Ryan wins reelection to House in NY’s 18th Congressional District
NEW YORK (PIX11) – Democratic U.S. Rep. Pat Ryan has defeated Republican challenger Alison Esposito to win reelection in New York’s 18th Congressional District.
Ryan will represent the mid-Hudson Valley congressional district for another term in the U.S. House of Representatives. The district includes Orange County and most of Dutchess and Ulster counties.
Ryan was first elected to represent the 18th District in a special election in 2022. He is a retired military intelligence officer who served as Ulster County executive.
New York’s 18th Congressional District race was among the most closely watched in the nation. It’s one of the seven swing districts in New York that could impact the balance of power in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Ryan’s opponent, Esposito, is a retired NYPD deputy inspector and precinct commanding officer. She previously ran as a candidate for New York lieutenant governor alongside Republican gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin, who lost to Gov. Kathy Hochul in the 2022 general election.
