Republican Kelly Hines wins State Senate District 47
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Republican Kelly Hines has been elected to succeed term-limited incumbent Senate Pro Tem Greg Treat (R-Oklahoma City) as the State Senator for District 47 in 2024.
Hines was chosen to be Treat's replacement after securing about 53 percent of vote, winning the seat over Democratic challenger Erin Brewer.
Hines, an Army veteran from Whitesboro, secured the Republican nomination in a primary runoff victory over Jenny Schmitt with just over 60 percent of total votes.
Brewer, a business owner from Stillwater, was named the Democratic nominee by default as the only candidate seeking the party's nomination.
Hines will serve as the District 47 State Senator for the next four years until the 2028 election.
