Winner predicted in North Carolina presidential race
The state of North Carolina has been called for Donald Trump in the presidential contest. The Washington Post and the New York Times made the prediction.
North Carolina was heavily targeted in the final days of the campaign by both Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump.
The state backed Trump narrowly in both the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections. However, polling for much of the cycle showed a close contest, and Harris campaigned strongly in the state in the final days, hoping that an early win there could lock down the Electoral College and prevent Trump from pushing conspiracy theories about election-rigging as other battleground states counted more slowly.
Trump himself held several campaign events in the last week of the election, to do everything in his power to keep the state in his column.
