Dejan Kulusevski reveals Heung-min Son’s mood in the dressing room
Dejan Kulusevski reveals what mood Heung-min Son was in following Tottenham’s 4-1 win over Aston Villa. Ange Postecoglou took the South Korea star off after just 55 minutes to avoid injury.
Heung-min Son not happy to be taken off
Son was extremely disappointed to see his number come up on the board after just 55 minutes. His frustrations were understandable as he was on fire at the start of the second period, having set up Tottenham‘s equaliser with a lovely cross just minutes earlier.
The South Korean’s frustrations continued to spill over after he took his place on the bench, but Ange Postecoglou’s decision did prove to be the right one. The man who replaced Son, Richarlison, grabbed an important assist as the home side ran out 4-1 winners.
The Tottenham head coach insisted after the game that there was never a chance that Son was going to play more than 55 minutes, given that he was still recovering from an injury (Football.London).

While Son did not look very happy whenever the camera panned to him for around 10 to 15 minutes after his substitution, Kulusevski insisted that all was well after the final whistle.
He revealed that the Spurs captain was very pleased with the result and claimed his disappointment was down to the fact that his injury prevented him from getting more minutes.
When asked about Son’s mood after the 4-1 win, the Swede said (via The Mirror): “He was very happy, very happy. I understand that he was disappointed because he was playing really good in the second half and creating chances.
“Just because of your body, you can’t play any more, so it’s frustrating. You know, if you are injured you can’t do anything. So the most important thing for a football player is to be on the pitch.”
Kulusevski was confident of a win at half-time
At the interval, Spurs fans would have been forgiven for thinking that they were in for another frustrating afternoon.
The Villans were tactically well-organised in the first period and looked very difficult to break down, but Kulusevski insisted that he was always confident that Tottenham were going to win once they got the equaliser.
The former Juventus man added: “At half-time, I said to the lads, ‘If we score one, we will score four’ – and exactly that happened. As soon as we scored one with a lovely cross from Sonny and a good finish from Brennan (Johnson), I knew we were going to win.”
