Anthony Davis says he’s been managing ankle injury, status vs. Grizzlies uncertain
After struggling with an ankle injury late in Monday’s loss to the Pistons, Anthony Davis sounded uncertain as to whether he’ll be available on Wednesday against Memphis.
Monday was not just the worst loss of the season for the Lakers, but it might be a doubly painful defeat.
Late in the game, Anthony Davis went down with an ankle injury. While he finished the game, it was clearly something that was bothering him, though it didn’t really slow him down as he finished 37 points, nine rebounds and four assists.
After the contest, though, he did not sound like someone optimistic about his situation. AD revealed the injury dated back to the summer that he’s been managing this season.
The pain on Monday was a result of him landing on a spot that was “killing” him.

A mixture of being upset about the result and likely upset about the injury probably led to his demeanor while talking to the media.
Clearly, though, this is something bothering him, though. The problem is that the Lakers can not cope without him. Even as he put up a monster performance on Monday, the team trailed throughout and couldn’t come away with a win.
Ideally, he would rest on Wednesday and have nearly a whole week before returning on Friday at home. But the Lakers are already 1-3 on the current road trip and coming off a really woeful showing.
It’s a tough situation for the team to be in, and one that also feels a bit too familiar. Are they willing to sacrifice an early-season loss and fall back to .500? It might be worth it in the long run, but it looks like it’s a decision this team is going to have to make.
