BYU picks up No. 2-ranked center Xavion Staton

Kevin Young is staying hot on the recruiting trail, picking up his second commitment in the past week. On Monday, it’s four-star big man Xavion Staton who pledged to the Cougars.
Staton — the 7-foot, 210-pound big man from Sierra Vista (NV) — chose BYU over Michigan, Stanford and UNLV. He was fresh off his visit to BYU this past weekend.
The big man is ranked the No. 23 overall prospect in the 2025 class and No. 2 overall center. Staton is the reigning Nevada Gatorade Player of the Year. His AAU program BTI won the Puma Pro16 circuit this summer.

BYU’s recruiting class now consists of four-star power forward Chamberlain Burgess and Staton. The Cougars are also after the No. 1 overall prospect in 2025, A.J. Dybantsa, and his teammate at Utah Prep, JJ Mandaquit. Those four would make quite the class.
