Evangeline Sheriff: Pine Prairie police chief arrested, charged with driving while intoxicated
EVANGELINE PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- The Pine Prairie police chief is accused of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and obstructing public passages, according to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office.
According to booking information provided by the sheriff's office, 81-year-old Landry Charles Deshotel was arrested Monday and charged with one count each of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and obstructing public passages.
Both charges are misdemeanors, according to the booking information. Deshotel was released from custody just before 4 p.m. on Monday.
Deshotel was arrested in early 2023 and accused of driving while intoxicated.
According to the Secretary of State's website, Deshotel is running in the Nov. 5 election for Pine Prairie's police chief. He is running against four other candidates.
