CDTA offers free rides to polls for 2024 election day
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- On Tuesday, voters in Albany can catch a free lift to the polls through Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) buses. All regular routes and Bus Rapid Transit Services are participating, and all riders need to do is tell the bus driver they are going to vote.
In addition to traveling by bus, the CDTA's CDPHP Cycle pedal and electric bikes can get voters to the polls for free. When booking a bike in the CDPHP Cycle app, riders can use the promo code "BIKETOVOTE" to receive a free 30-minute ride.
STAR customers can also take free rides to and from the polls. Voters who want to use paratransit services must be within three-quarters of a mile of CDTA fixed-route services.
The CDTA recommends that STAR customers check their voter status to ensure their ride is booked within the right County Board of Elections. STAR customers must make ride reservations before 4 p.m. on Monday by calling (518) 482-2022.
