CVS Pharmacy closing on Western Avenue in Albany
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- CVS Pharmacy is closing its location at 1170 Western Avenue in Albany. A CVS spokesperson said the store will be closing on December 12.
"Maintaining access to pharmacy services in the communities we serve is an important factor we consider when making store closure decisions," said the spokesperson. "Other factors include local market dynamics, population shifts, a community’s store density, and ensuring there are other geographic access points to meet the needs of the community."
All prescriptions will be transferred to the CVS Pharmacy at 885 Central Avenue in Albany. However, customers can choose another CVS or the pharmacy of their choice. Employees are being offered other positions within the company, said the spokesperson.
This will leave six CVS stores in the immediate Albany area, including one in Stuyvesant Plaza and another on Western Avenue in Guilderland. In September 2023, the CVS at 1026 Madison Avenue closed. Earlier that year, the location at 153 Central Avenue closed.
