Spurs summer signing loves learning things from Ange Postecoglou
One of Tottenham’s summer signings confesses that he is loving working with Ange Postecoglou and insists that he is already a better player than he was when he arrived.
Early days for Spurs youngster
Archie Gray might not have got as much game time as he might have hoped in his first few months at Tottenham, but he has certainly shown a lot of promise.
The 18-year-old has already been used across a number of positions, which is a sign that Postecoglou and his coaching staff trust the youngster’s tactical maturity.
The Leeds academy graduate has been tipped for big things in the future, but he has his feet firmly planted on the ground, taking it one day at a time.
Archie Gray on training under Ange Postecoglou
Gray has admitted that he has thoroughly enjoyed working with Postecoglou and his coaching staff, revealing that he tries to take in as much information as possible in training every single day.
The Tottenham man said (via Football.London): “It has been a pleasure just to learn things under him in training and being able to work under him is a pleasure and I’m really grateful for it.
“There’s so much more that I can learn from him and I’m just taking it day-by-day in training and the games, so I’m just very grateful.”
When asked what aspects of his game have improved so far at Spurs, Gray responded: “Just understanding the game a bit more and being a bit more adaptable, if you could say that because I played in a lot of positions last year and even this year I’ve played in a new one at centre-back. I’m enjoying it and just working hard every day.”
Gray enjoying first taste of European football
Gray has started all three of Tottenham’s Europa League games so far this season, with the Lilywhites boasting a perfect record in the competition so far this season.
It is the first taste that the teenager has had of European football, and he is certainly enjoying the experience.
When asked about the Europa League, he said: “It’s brilliant. I’ve said it before in an interview that it’s different to league football and cup competitions in England because it’s under the lights against European teams, and different playing styles.
“You have to approach each game in different ways because of how the teams play. It just has a different feeling to it because it’s in a European competition but I enjoy it a lot and I can’t wait for the games.”
