Lindor, Alonso Named Mets’ Silver Slugger Award Finalists
Louisville Slugger announced the full list of finalists for their annual Silver Slugger Award Monday, and Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso were named as finalists for their respective positions. The award is given to the player who had the best offensive year at each position and is voted on by a manager and three coaches from every team around the league.

Lindor produced his best year as a Met, even though it started abysmally. After looking lifeless at the plate the first two weeks of the season, he became an MVP threat once moved to the leadoff spot in the lineup. He finished the 2024 season hitting .273/.344/.500/.844 with 33 home runs, 91 RBIs, 29 stolen bases and 29 doubles. The shortstop also tied his career-best fWAR at 7.8.
Meanwhile, Alonso had a relatively walk-season to forget until September and October came around. The Polar Bear ended his 2024 campaign batting .240/.329/.459/.788 with 34 home runs, 88 RBIs and 31 doubles, playing in all 162 regular season games. He hit memorable postseason homers left and right, his shining moment coming in Game 3 of the NL Wild Card Series, when he blasted a go-ahead three-run homer off Brewers closer Devin Williams to send the Mets to the NLDS. It was the first homer of its kind in MLB postseason history.
One snub to note was Mark Vientos. While not qualified for the batting title, Vientos was eligible for the Silver Slugger Award. He capped his career year with a .266/.322/.516/.838 slash line, clobbering 27 home runs, 71 RBIs and 22 doubles through 111 games. He also set a new Mets postseason RBI record with 14 RBIs, shattering Curtis Granderson and John Olerud‘s record of 12 RBIs.
