5 Unhinged Predictions For ‘Wednesday’ Season 2
What’s set to happen in Wednesday Season 2? Don’t worry – we got you!
Netflix’s Wednesday danced its awkward and charming way into everyone’s lives in 2022. The spooky and kooky show – based on The Addams Family – turned into a major hit for the streaming platform, and viewers started clicking their fingers in unison, hoping that the second season would magically appear. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case. The writers’ and actors’ strikes in 2023 pushed back pretty much every production as the creatives fought for their rights – and rightfully so – while lead actor Jenna Ortega has kept herself extremely busy with a packed schedule as one of the rising stars in showbiz.
As it stands, Wednesday Season 2 is only set to arrive in 2025, but we have had a look into the crystal ball and spoken to a few Addams about what’s on the cards for Wednesday and her cohorts. Here are the unhinged predictions that have been shared with us, and hey, don’t shoot the messenger here.
Cousin Itt becomes a part of Nevermore Academy
Where in the world was Cousin Itt in Wednesday Season 1?! Viewers were robbed of seeing the greatest Addams in all his hairy glory. Robbed! It isn’t all bad news, though, as a portrait of Ignatius “Iggy” Itt appears in the episode “If You Don’t Woe Me by Now.” He’s a distant relative of Cousin Itt from the 1800s and is considered a crucial part of Nevermore Academy’s history, being described by Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen) as the founder’s right-hand man. Taking into account this connection, it makes all the sense in the world for Cousin Itt to roll up and take up a position at the school – either as a teacher or member of the board of directors – in Wednesday Season 2. As long as he struts in while a Snoop Dogg song plays, everyone wins here.
Barry Dort is connected to Gomez Addams’ past
Steve Buscemi joins the cast of Wednesday Season 2 as Barry Dort. While his character’s backstory remains unknown at the time of writing, Variety claims he will be introduced as the new principal of Nevermore Academy, replacing Gwendoline Christie’s Larissa Weems. Nothing in Wednesday happens by chance, though, as the first season demonstrated. Weems had a history with Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones), so don’t be shocked if Dort is connected to Gomez (Luis Guzmán) somehow – especially since Gomez also attended Nevermore. Principal Weems was more of a disciplinarian and stern personality, so it’s likely that Dort might be a softer and relaxed character in comparison, which might be both good and bad news for the students of Nevermore.
Pugsley Addams joins Wednesday at Nevermore Academy
One of the biggest criticisms of Wednesday Season 1 was how the Addams Family didn’t feature as much as many fans had hoped. This has been remedied for the second season, with Netflix’s Tudum confirming that Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán have been promoted to series regulars, meaning they will appear on screen a whole lot more now. Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley Addams) also received the bump up to regular status. While the show is about Wednesday – hence its name and entire premise – it would be great to further explore the tortuous dynamics between her and her sibling here. This could be aided by the addition of Pugsley to Nevermore Academy, or at least an extended visit from him in Wednesday Season 2. One thing’s for certain, though, there will be a lot more Pugsley in this show moving forward.
Wednesday’s stalker is Christopher Lloyd’s character
Wednesday brought back Christina Ricci as Marilyn Thornhill/Laurel Gates in the first season and made her central to the plot. Of course, diehard fans know Ricci previously played Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family movies. For Wednesday Season 2, Christopher Lloyd, who played Uncle Fester in the film series, continues the trend and joins the cast. His character’s name remains secret and it’s unclear how much he’ll feature in the actual show. However, considering the meaty nature of Ricci’s role, it’s almost guaranteed that Lloyd won’t be some random character without purpose. At the end of Wednesday Season 1, Wednesday discovered she had a stalker who had been watching her for quite some time. Don’t bet against the stalker being revealed to be Lloyd’s character when all is said and done, or at least be closely associated with the person watching Wednesday.
Xavier Thorpe will face a horrible fate offscreen
In Wednesday Season 1, Percy Hynes White receives significant screen time as Xavier Thorpe, a psychic student who receives visions through his dreams and connects with Wednesday. At one point in the show, Wednesday believes Xavier to be the monster and he’s wrongfully arrested; however, Xavier is released in the season finale. This leaves a juicy story thread to be picked up on and unraveled for Wednesday Season 2 – but it isn’t happening. White had serious allegations made about him on X (formerly known as Twitter) and Netflix chose not to bring him back for the second season of the show. So, what happens to Xavier who was a big part of Season 1? Well, he’s probably going to meet his maker, albeit offscreen. Maybe he’ll be the first official victim of Wednesday’s stalker.
