Dennis Allen out as New Orleans Saints head coach
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — New Orleans Saints Head Coach Dennis Allen has been fired according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Allen's dismissal comes after the Saints lost to the Carolina Panthers 23 - 22 on Sunday, Nov. 3. This marked the seventh loss in a row for the Saints this season.
Allen was announced as head coach in 2022 following Sean Payton stepping down from the position.
Before accepting the position, Allen previously served as a senior defensive assistant for the Saints in 2015 and then as defensive coordinator.
Under Allen's leadership, the Saints did not make the playoffs.
In an interview with Ed Daniels, Allen said "I'm gonna do this my way."

Allen was the 17th head coach of the New Orleans Saints franchise.
According to NFL officials, special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi is expected to be New Orleans' interim coach.
