Ange Postecoglou is ‘big admirer’ of young Brighton midfielder
Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on one of Brighton’s emerging stars and they could be involved in a transfer battle with two of their rivals for the player’s signature.
Brighton have found another gem
Brighton’s recruitment has long been hailed as being among the best in the world, with the club having made it a habit of plucking players from relative obscurity and developing them into stars.
Carlos Baleba is the latest to make that transition, with the young midfielder being a revelation at the Amex Stadium since his switch from Lille last year.
It turns out that the Seagulls could soon face a battle to hold on to the 20-year-old, whose performances have caught the attention of several big Premier League sides.
Tottenham to get involved in Carlos Baleba battle?
A report from talkSPORT reveals that Baleba could potentially be the next player to make a big-money move away from Brighton as the interest in his services continues to grow.
Both Arsenal and Liverpool are said to be keen on the Cameroon international, having been following the player’s progress for a long time.
The latest club to join the race are Spurs, whose interest in the midfielder is being driven by Ange Postecoglou, who is described in the report as ‘a big admirer’ of the youngster.
Are Brighton expected to sell?
The report says that the Seagulls are not under any financial pressure to sell any of their main men at the moment.
However, it is pointed out that Brighton’s business model is based on selling their players for a healthy profit, which they might be tempted to do again with Baleba.
The publication adds that having signed the midfielder for £23m, Fabian Hurzeler’s side may be able to sell him for a significantly higher fee if a bidding war breaks out for him in the upcoming transfer windows.
