LIST: Celebrities endorsing Kamala Harris for US president

MANILA, Philippines – The US is set to elect its 47th president on November 5.

This year’s frontrunners are incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris, who is running with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and former president Donald Trump, who is running alongside Senator JD Vance.

Harris and Trump are among six candidates looking to succeed current US President Joe Biden, who officially took office on January 20, 2021. Biden initially sought to renew his four-year term but eventually withdrew his candidacy and endorsed Harris instead.

Biden isn’t the only big name rallying behind Harris, though. From chart-topping musicians to award-winning actors, numerous celebrities have also expressed their support for the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate.

Find them here:

Taylor Swift

In September, pop superstar Taylor Swift announced on Instagram that she would be voting for Harris after an AI-generated video of her appearing to endorse Trump circulated on social media and was posted on his official website.

“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for [Harris] because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader, and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos,” Swift wrote.

Lebron James

LA Lakers power forward Lebron James endorsed Harris on October 31 via Instagram, where he shared a video depicting the history of racism in America alongside soundbites of the racist remarks Trump has made throughout his campaign.

“What are we even talking about here?? When I think about my kids and my family and how they will grow up, the choice is clear to me. VOTE KAMALA HARRIS,” the basketball giant said in his post.

Beyoncé

Music icon Beyoncé endorsed Harris at the latter’s campaign rally in Houston, Texas, on October 25.

“I’m not here as a celebrity. I’m not here as a politician. I’m here as a mother — a mother who cares deeply about the world my children and all of our children live in. A world where we have the freedom to control our bodies. A world where we’re not divided,” she said during her speech at the event.

The singer-songwriter’s mother, Tina Knowles, was also present at the rally, and further confirmed her support for Harris on Instagram. “Let’s make history! Elect the future president of the United States,” Knowles captioned the photo she shared of herself with her daughter and Harris.

Kelly Rowland

At the same Houston rally, singer-actress and Beyoncé’s Destiny’s Child co-member Kelly Rowland also delivered a speech. She called on everyone to join the fight against those trying to perpetuate division, hatred, misogyny, and racism.

“We are grabbing back the pen to forge a new path with Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. We are grabbing back the pen to write a new American story. A story of community, of equality, of strength, of kindness, and of hope,” Rowland said.

Madonna

“Queen of Pop” Madonna revealed on Instagram that she headed home from her trip to Paris to cast her vote for Harris.

“Paris was so FUN! It was hard to leave, but I had to come home to V.O.T.E [Kamala Harris] for President!” Madonna captioned her post.

Oprah

Famed talk show host Oprah Winfrey led a “Unite for America” livestream event on September 19, where Harris discussed her key platforms for her presidential bid. Over 140 grassroots groups attended the event to support Harris.

“Remind the people in your life of the privilege and power of their vote because united we win,” Oprah wrote on Instagram after the event concluded.

Marvel’s ‘Avengers’

Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Don Cheadle, Chris Evans, Danai Gurira, and Paul Bettany of Marvel’s Avengers franchise publicly expressed their support for Harris in an Instagram video posted on November 1.

The clip showed the superhero franchise’s cast members humorously brainstorming for a catchphrase they could use to show support for Harris, eventually settling on “Down with democracy.”

Jennifer Garner

13 Going on 30 star Jennifer Garner spoke at a “Moms for Harris” event in Tucson, Arizona, in late October. She has also been active about her support for the Democratic nominee on social media, stating that she trusts Harris to lead the country.

“I’ve known Kamala for almost 20 years; I trust her and I like her. I’ve watched — she is tough on abusers and bullies, and unafraid to stand up for what’s right — even when it’s unpopular, even when it’s really hard. I know Kamala cares about families, about women, about children,” Garner wrote on Instagram.

Jane Fonda

Veteran actress Jane Fonda engaged in door-to-door campaigning for the first time to share Harris’ platforms with Michigan residents and sway them to vote for the candidate.

Together with Chelsea Handler and Connie Britton, Fonda also traveled to New Mexico and Arizona in late October to do “canvassing, fundraising, [and] phone banking” for Harris and her running mate, Walz.

Bruce Springsteen

American rock giant Bruce Springsteen formally endorsed Harris and Walz on October 4 via Instagram. He also denounced Trump, referring to him as “the most dangerous candidate for president in [his] lifetime.”

“On the other hand, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are committed to a vision of this country that respects and includes everyone, regardless of class, religion, race, your political point of view, or sexual identity,” he wrote.

Jessica Alba

Actress Jessica Alba made an appearance at the Harris-Walz Houston rally to campaign for the pair. On Instagram, she shared photos from the event and called on Houston residents to “make a difference” by casting their votes.

Jennifer Lopez

R&B superstar and actress Jennifer Lopez gave a speech at the Harris-Walz rally in Las Vegas, Nevada, on October 31, speaking highly of Harris’ commitment to education and fair wages.

“She’s the only candidate that wants to raise the minimum wage and make college more affordable,” Lopez said about Harris, expressing her disapproval toward Trump in the process.

Lopez added that this presidential election will make people choose between the past and the future, and the way forward or backward.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Actor and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger shared in a lengthy post on X on October 30 that he would be voting for Harris and Walz in the elections despite not usually doing endorsements.

“It will just be four more years of bullshit with no results that makes us angrier and angrier, more divided, and more hateful,” Schwarzenegger said about Trump.

The The Terminator star said that although he disagrees with many of Harris and Walz’s platforms, he ultimately still decided to cast his vote for the pair.

“I want to move forward as a country, and even though I have plenty of disagreements with their platform, I think the only way to do that is with Harris and Walz,” he wrote.

Anne Hathaway

Actress Anne Hathaway endorsed Harris at a “Broadway 4 Harris” event on October 14, where she performed “Somebody to Love” and gave a short speech.

“In case you didn’t know, I am voting for Kamala. Is anybody else here voting for Kamala?” Hathaway said.

Octavia Spencer

Ma and The Help star Octavia Spencer expressed her support for Harris in a short video posted on October 29, encouraging Americans to exercise their right to vote.

Jamie Lee Curtis

Freaky Friday and Everything Everywhere All At Once actress Jamie Lee Curtis has also been vocal about her endorsement of Harris on social media, often making posts in support of the 60-year-old’s presidential campaign.

In a video posted on October 31, she said that she is voting for Harris because of her platform on women’s bodily autonomy.

Eminem

Rapper and hip-hop great Eminem spoke at a Harris-Walz rally in Detroit, Michigan, on October 23.

“I also think that people shouldn’t be afraid to express their opinions, and I don’t think anyone wants an America where people are worried about retribution or what people would do if you make your opinion known. I think Vice President Harris supports a future for this country where these freedoms and many others will be protected and upheld,” the rapper said.

At the same rally, he also introduced former president Barack Obama, who Trump succeeded in 2017. Obama gave his own speech in support of Harris.

Other musicians who endorsed Harris were Marc Anthony, John Legend, siblings Billie Eilish and Finneas, Cardi B, Usher, Lizzo, Cher, Stevie Nicks, and James Taylor, among many others.

Meanwhile, actors who rallied behind Harris included George Clooney, Will Ferrell, Julia Roberts, Sarah Jessica Parker, Lin Manuel-Miranda, Aubrey Plaza, Tiffany Hadish, Whoopi Goldberg, Jennifer Lawrence, John Stamos, Matt Damon, and Mel Brooks, to name a few. – Rappler.com
