Albany man arrested after Central Avenue stabbing
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Albany Police made an arrest following an assault investigation on Friday morning. Kashawn McKinney, 30, of Albany, is facing multiple charges.
Officers responded to Central Avenue near Ontario Street around 8:45 a.m. after receiving reports of a stabbing in the area. Police say a 23-year-old man with stab wounds to the wrist and hip was located at the scene.
The victim was tended to by emergency personnel before being taken to Albany Medical Center, where he reportedly remains in stable condition. The ensuing investigation revealed that McKinney allegedly stabbed the victim as a result of an argument involving several people outside of Albany News at 396 Central Avenue.
McKinney turned himself in to Albany Police shortly after the incident. He was charged with second-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned at Albany City Criminal Court before being remanded to the Albany County Jail with bail set at $25,000.
