Man arrested after hours-long standoff at Tigard apartment complex
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A man was arrested Thursday afternoon following a standoff at an apartment complex in Tigard, authorities said.
According to Tigard police, officers responded at around 3:30 p.m. to the Sygnii Apartments where they learned that a man had been yelling and attempting to break into an apartment.
Police said the man also had weapons and was making threats of harm.
Officers surrounded the building and attempted to talk to the man, later identified as Daniel Bean, 38. However, officials said he wasn't cooperating with them.
Since Bean had access to weapons, officials ordered a shelter-in-place at the apartment complex.
Eventually, officers said they were able to evacuate the residents to a community room in the apartment while they continued working to resolve the situation.
At around 8:30 p.m., authorities said they were finally able to take Bean into custody.
Bean faces charges including first-degree attempted burglary, unlawful use of a weapon, menacing and disorderly conduct.
The apartment residents were let back into their apartments at 9:30 p.m.
