Crystal Palace make Eberechi Eze decision – Tottenham still interested
Crystal Palace make an important decision on the future of Eberechi Eze as Tottenham continue to circle around the England international.
Spurs to make second attempt for Eberechi Eze?
Eberechi Eze was of interest to Tottenham in the summer, with several outlets even installing the Lilywhites as the favourites to sign the attacking midfielder (talkSPORT).
It came as a surprise to some that the Englishman stayed put at Selhurst Park but the speculation over his future is now once again restarting as we approach the January window.
GiveMeSport now report that Spurs, Manchester City, Arsenal and Newcastle United are all eyeing a move for the 26-year-old but Palace have now made their stance clear.
Crystal Palace’s stance on Eberechi Eze
According to the report, Palace are in no mood to sanction Eze’s sale mid-season and are poised to remain firm in their demands as the interest in the player’s services continues to grow.
After losing Joachim Andersen and Michael Olise in the summer, Oliver Glasner’s men do not want to weaken themselves further mid-season and are thus not planning on listening to offers for their star man.
The report adds that Spurs and other interested parties are facing ‘an uphill battle’ to convince the Eagles, who are refusing to lower the demands they set for the former QPR man in the summer.
What were Palace’s demands in the summer?
It is explained that back in the summer window, the South London club wanted a fee of £60m for Eze, all of it upfront, which put off any potential suitors.
With the midfielder still having two and a half years left on his contract, Palace reportedly have no intention of relaxing those demands just yet.
The publication also points out that a £68m release clause in Eze’s contract will become active next summer if the player does not sign a new deal at Selhurst Park before then.
