Royals add reliever Evan Sisk to 40-man roster
The lefty had a 1.57 ERA in Triple-A.
The Royals announced they have added left-handed reliever Evan Sisk to the 40-man roster. That brings the total number of players on the 40-man roster to 33, although the team still needs to activate pitcher Kyle Wright from the 60-day Injured List.
Sisk was originally acquired from the Twins before the 2023 season in a trade with pitcher Steven Cruz for outfielder Michael A. Taylor. The 27-year-old had a 1.57 ERA with 81 strikeouts and 26 walks in 57 1/3 innings. He led the Storm Chasers in saves with 15 and left-handers hit just .093/.186/.105 against him in 97 plate appearances. He joins a bullpen that also has left-handers Kris Bubic, Sam Long, Daniel Lynch IV, and Angel Zerpa.
If left unprotected, Sisk would have been eligible to be selected in the Rule 5 draft, to be held December 11. The deadline to add eligible players to the 40-man roster is November 19, but the Royals are moving early. Pitcher Noah Cameron will almost certainly be added, and pitchers Luinder Avila, Eric Cerantola, Chandler Champlain, Austin Cox, and Tyson Guerrero could also be added.
